Annie Ruth Allen

October 09, 1929 - July 15, 2020

Obituary

Mrs. Annie Ruth Frye Allen, 90, of the Cornatzer Community, entered her heavenly home Wednesday, July 15, 2020, at her home, after a long battle with Alzheimers. She was surrounded by her loving family and caregivers.

Annie was born October 9, 1929, to the late Benjamin Floyd Country and Pearl Potts Frye. She was a graduate of Shady Grove, Advance Class of 1948. Annie had been employed by Hanes as a seamstress.

She was a faithful member of Cornatzer Baptist Church where her love for children led her to be a church nursery worker for 35 years. Annie also enjoyed singing in the choir. She will be remembered for her love for the Lord, her servant heart and kind personality. Her life was a living example of Proverbs 31, a virtuous woman, and her influence will forever remain in the lives of people who knew her.

She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Annie treasured her children and loved every moment she spent with them. She especially loved her role as Mamaw, Nannie and Nana. Annie was not only devoted to her family but to the people in her community. She enjoyed sewing, making quilts, fishing, gardening and working in her yard.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Lucas Grubbs; and siblings, Lindsey Frye, Carl Frye, Jim Frye, and Polly Fivecoat.

Her memory will be cherished by her husband and best friend of 71 years, Earnest Weldon Allen; daughters, Yvonne Reavis (Eddie) and Dena Grubbs (Steve); grandchildren, Amber Livengood King, Jamie Livengood, Allen Livengood (Paula), Katelyn Grubbs; great-grandchildren, Dale Hanes, Tristan Hanes, Taylor Godbey, Alyssa Godbey, Hailey Livengood, and Gabe Livengood; and sister, Helen Peg Shoaf.

A funeral family service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 18, at Cornatzer Baptist Church, with Rev. Otis Hurst and Rev. Jeff Beverly officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family invites friends to come by the church, Friday, July 17, all day until 6 p.m. We encourage visitors to use face coverings and practice social distancing.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be considered for Cornatzer Baptist Church, 1372 Cornatzer Road, Mocksville, NC 27028, Memo: Building Fund.
