William Rondal Smoot, better known as 'Smoot,' was born on December 10, 1035, son of the late William Efrin Smoot and Addie Scott Smoot. On March 15, 1956, Rondal married his wife of fifty-eight years, Beatrice Foster Smoot, whom he lovingly called Prissy, and he loved her very much. To this union, Rondal and Bea had eight children. Rondal worked as a truck driver most of his adult life, and his employment included working for Bingham & Parks and Christy Trucking. He was a member of Mocksville Second Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by three children, Sabrina Lynn, Sherry Denise Smoot and her twin sister Sharon Smoot Etchison; one granddaughter, Charle Nichole Dulin. Following an extended illness, on Thursday, May 22, 2014, Rondal passed away at home surrounded by his loving family. Survivors include five children, Carol (Frank) Fisher, Patricia 'Kate' Smoot McClelland, Rhonda Smoot Grant, Dennis Ashley Smoot, and William E. 'Ricky' Smoot all of Mocksville; ten grandchildren, Kimberly, Rufus (Christy), Russell (Syretta), Nikki, Sabrina, Jessica, Rashaun, Mateah, Brandon, and Myriah; eleven great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Charles (Blondean) Foster, and Gary (Teresa) Foster; one sister-in-law, Nellie (Johnny) Foster; a host of nieces and nephews; special friends Buddy Leonard and Alfred Allen.
