William "Sim" Franklin Ray, 80, of Mocksville, died Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at his home.

He was born January 17, 1946, in Surry County, to the late Jessie Radford and Alma Lucille Woodring Ray.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Jones Ray; a stepson, Randy Jones; a brother, Billy Joe Ray; and a sister, Susan Ann Riley.

Survivors include stepchildren, Sam Jones, Jr. (Robin), Mary Hatley Basinger (Michael), Pam Jones, Ellie Bobbitt (Scott), Kelvin Jones, Keith Jones, and Angela Jones Tran (Thanh); a sister, Dorothy Ray Smith (John); grandchildren, Cody, Ashleigh, Zakary, and Jaxson; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 10, at Lambert Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Sam Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Legion Memorial Park, Cooleemee. The family invites friends to visit with them from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, March 9, at the funeral home.
