Mrs. Vera Martin Redmon, age 103, daughter of the late Charlie and Rosie Martin, died July 24, 2016 at her residence in Yadkinville, NC. She received her GED from Statesville Senior High School, and later received CNA Certification from Surry Community College. She worked in several area hospitals, and also private duty nursing. She grew up in Tabernacle United Church of Christ and later in life she joined Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Hamptonville, NC, where she served with her husband, the late Willie G. Redmon. Vera loved baking, sewing, quilting, gardening, canning vegetables, singing, and visiting the sick. Six siblings preceded her in death, including three sisters, and three brothers, David, Hubert, and Jackson. She is lovingly survived by two sons, David (the late Abby G.) Redmon of Mocksville and Thomas Redmon of Newton, NC; two daughters, Amy Redmon of Paterson, NJ, and Nancy Redmon of the home; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, including Dennis and wife Vanessa, Keith and wife Wendy, and Kathy Redmon, who was raised in her home; Tamika and husband Darryl, Nicole, Shane, Sharon, Nakima, Boucha, Charlene, Michael, Derek, Brandon, Keith, Brian, Anthony, Tanya, Kissiah, Dennis, Jr., Denzel, Tarris, Elaine, Jason, Eshonda, Jock, Candice, and Cameron; special nieces, Connie Campbell, Sue Woodruff, Vanessa Long, Cynthia Cowan, and Tina Long; special nephew, Larry and wife Vanessa Long; special missionary friend, Earlene Russell; other relatives and friends. The family of Mrs. Vera Redmon acknowledges your kind expressions of sympathy. A special thank you to her caregivers and those who assisted during her illness.
