Valerie Lynn Edwards Mayhew, 56, of Cooleemee, died Saturday, April 5, 2025.

She was born February 2, 1969, in Burnsville.

She was preceded in death by her father, Mac Arthur Edwards; her mother, Suzanne Bradford Zimmerman; and her stepfather, Michael Glenn Zimmerman.

Survivors include her husband, David Glenn Mayhew, Jr.; children, Matthew Lee Bare, Kristin Rose Gibson (Joey), Kelly Michelle Bales (Nic), Johnathan Truett (Crystal), and Sarah Mackenzie Lee Peacock (Dakota); stepchildren, David Mayhew, III (Tiffany) and Chris Mayhew; and grandchildren, Mac, Alex, Jack, Peyton Brook, Weston, Peyton Rose, Braxton, and Melody.

A funeral service will be conducted at 6 p.m., Thursday, April 10, at Lambert Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Daron Osborne officiating. The family invites friends to visit with them at the funeral home following the service.
