The communities of Raleigh and Wilmington, are mourning the heartbreaking and unexpected loss of Thomas Garrett Price, 32, who passed away suddenly July 21, 2025. Garrett's death has sent shockwaves through both cities, leaving his family, friends, and loved ones in deep sorrow and disbelief. His untimely passing has left a lasting void in the lives of those who knew him best.

Thomas Garrett Price, originally from Raleigh and recently connected to Wilmington, was a young man whose warmth, kindness, and bright personality touched the lives of many. Known for his infectious smile and genuine spirit, Garrett was the kind of person who left a lasting impression wherever he went. Whether it was with lifelong friends, coworkers, or casual acquaintances, Garrett always brought positive energy into every room. Garrett was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Harvey Craig Price; grandparents, Harvey Earl Price, and wife, Eleanor Blow of Smithfield; and loving great-grandfather, James Walter Etchison.

He is survived by his mother, Pamela Updegraff Price; his loving grandmother, Dahlgren Etchison Updegraff of Mocksville; loving grandfather, Paul Thomas Updegraff and his wife, Ruth Strickland Updegraff, of Raleigh; brother to, Courtney Marie Price of Raleigh, David Craig Price and his wife, Leah Price of Greenville, John Harvey Price of Weaverville; as well as nephews, Parker Price, Joseph Price, and Walker Price; uncles, Paul Thomas Updegraff of Charlotte, Dr. Russ Price, and wife Anne, Price of Atlanta, GA; aunt, Elizabeth Etchison Updegraff McGrew, and husband, Lance McGrew, of Cherry Grove, SC; and cousins, Benjamin Chase Carey, Sadie Elizabeth Updegraff, Connor Thomas Updegraff, Alexander Boyd Price, and Mary Macon Price Lissner.

Services for Garrett will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 2, at Eatons Baptist Church, 430 Eatons Church Rd, Mocksville, NC 27028. Garrett will then be laid to rest next to his father in the church cemetery; and afterwards family will be receiving guests. Garrett's legacy will live on in the hearts of everyone he touched, and his spirit will be remembered in the kindness and joy he brought into the world.
