Thelma Lucille Ledford Cranfill, 102, of Mocksville, died Sunday, March 22, 2026, at Bermuda Commons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born May 29, 1923, in Davie County, to the late Bernie Lee and Carrie Elizabeth Messick Ledford.
Lucille attended Davie County Schools and continued her education at Mitchell Community College in Statesville and Forsyth Technical Community College. She dedicated 35 years of service to Western Electric, which later became AT&T, before retiring. Following her retirement, she continued working at Davis Regional Hospital in Statesville.
Lucille found great joy in creative hobbies such as cross-stitching, quilting, ceramics, and crocheting. She especially treasured time spent with her Western Electric/AT&T friends, gathering for dinners, as well as her Sunday School class in their home fellowships and celebrations.
A devoted and faithful member of Turrentine Baptist Church for over 77 years, Lucille's life was a testament to her strong faith and commitment to her church community. She was also a proud member of the Telecom Pioneers Club of AT&T.
In addition to her parents, Lucille was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lester Cranfill, on October 15, 2004, with whom she shared 64 wonderful years of marriage; her son, Lester Leroy Cranfill; her daughter-in-law, Kathleen Cranfill; and her sister, Therlene Ledford Pinkston.
Survivors include a sister, Nancy Robertson; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and great-great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 25, at Turrentine Baptist Church, with Pastor Ken Warner officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family invites friends to visit with them one hour prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be considered Turrentine Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 613 Turrentine Church Road, Mocksville, NC 27028.
