Mr. Ted Thomas Chapman, 87, of Mocksville, died Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem.

He was born January 27, 1936, to the late Arthur Lee and Fannie Elizabeth Houston Chapman. Although born in Alexander County, he lived in Iredell County from 1938 to 2001. Mr. Chapman was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of Cornerstone Christian Church. From 1963 to 1977, he owned and operated a gas station, and from 1978 to 2003, he was in independent automotive tool sales. Mr. Chapman enjoyed restoring vintage vehicles, attending car shows and being a volunteer by delivering Meals on Wheels.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Randall in 1964, and Shannon in 1992; and sisters, Dorothy Prevette, Minnie Fulbright, and Ramona Davidson.

Survivors include his wife to whom he wed June 23, 2001, Garnette Chapman; stepdaughters, Debbie Smothers (Tom) and Jayme Earle (Trey); brother, Tommy Chapman; and stepgrandchildren, Jes Smothers (Amanda), Jordan Earle, Becca Smothers, and Hannah Ehst (Sam).

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 9, at Oakwood Cemetery, in Statesville with Rev. Kevin Frack officiating. The service will be available to view on the funeral home website. The family invites friends to come by Lambert Funeral Home, Wednesday, March 8, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., to pay their respects.
