Mrs. Shirley Ann Weaver James, 80, of Mocksville, died Thursday, March 25, 2021, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. She was born December 9, 1940, in Rowan County, to the late Marvin Clement and Helen Elizabeth Barger Weaver. Mrs. James was a member of Turrentine Baptist Church. She had worked at Norman's of Salisbury, Inc. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Joy Cozart; and a stepson, Ronnie James. Survivors include her husband, Carol Dean James of the home; children, LuAnn Manter (Keith) of Lexington, Michele Davis (John) of Charlotte, and Todd Bowers (Tammy) of Salisbury; stepdaughter, Lynn Harris (Fred) of Mocksville; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, stepgrandchildren, and stepgreat-grandchildren; brothers, Gary Weaver (Sue) of Mt. Ulla and Gene Weaver of Spencer; and a very close friend, Barbara Carter. A funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m., Sunday, March 28, at Turrentine Baptist Church, with Rev. Fred Carlton officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. At the request of the family, please be mindful of social distancing and wear face covering.
