Scott Walter Byrd, 60, of Statesville, died Wednesday, April 6, 2025, at his home.

He was born December 31, 1964, in Marlboro County, SC, to the late James Walter and Mary Lee Perm Byrd. Scott enjoyed fishing, working in his yard or anything else outside, beach trips, and being with family and friends; most of all he loved listening to music.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Jennifer Byrd and Renea Byrd; and a half-brother, Johnny Locklear.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Byrd; children, Josh Rash, Joanna Byrd (Mark Eades), Jennifer Walker, and Julie Wellman (Chris Frady); sister, Sarah Leatherman; brother, Robert Byrd; half-brother, Lonzi Locklear (Deborah); grandson, Jake Eades; several stepgrandchildren; a few stepgreat-grandchildren; best friends, "Spider" Stroud, Dennis Wishon; and Timmy Wilcox; and several nieces and nephews.
