Obituary

Samuel Chaplin was born in Davie County on May 17, 1922, son of the late Tom and Lousana Hairston Chaplin. He attended Davie County Schools, and at an early age he joined Cedar Grove Baptist Church. Sam loved to play cards and dominoes. He also loved to travel throughout Davie and Davidson counties. He was a self-employed handyman who loved children. He was preceded in death by his parents, and all of his eight siblings. For the past ten years, he had been a resident of Pine Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center, where he died on Friday, March 28, 2014. Survivors include two nephews, Cathell (Arnell) Doulin of Lexington, and Garfield (Frankie) Doulin of Winston-Salem; several great-nieces and great-nephews, including two special great-great-nieces, Nadia Miller and Ahnae Scott; other relatives and many friends.
