Mrs. Ruby Jean Sheets Blackwelder, 89, of Wilkesboro passed away Saturday, March 19, 2022, at Wilkes Assisted Living in N. Wilkesboro. Funeral services will be held 12:00 PM Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at Journey of Grace Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Pruitt and Rev. Joe Woodward officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM prior to the service at Journey of Grace Baptist Church. Burial will be in Fork Baptist Church Cemetery in Mocksville. Ruby Jean was born June 29, 1932, in Mocksville to Ambrouse Gray and Geneva Barnhardt Sheets. Ruby Jean graduated from Mocksville High School and taught at Catawba Valley College. She was a Sunday school teacher, choir member and WMU Director. She was a member of Journey of Grace Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband; James Lester Blackwelder of 71 years, two sons; Ronald (Ron) Blackwelder and wife Jennifer of N. Myrtle Beach, SC, James Stephen (Steve) Blackwelder and wife Anne of Cabool MO., ten grandchildren; Stephanie B. Ard of Prattville, AL, James Blackwelder of Cabool, MO, Jared Blackwelder of Cabool, MO, Rachel Blackwelder of Charlotte, Justine Reese of Wasilla, AK, Lauren Riley of Morehead City, Jason Blackwelder of Cabool, MO, Ethan Blackwelder of Asheville, Esther Clinton of Bend, OR, Emma Halbach of Joplin, MO and thirteen great grandchildren.
