Roy Grady White, 87, of Mocksville, went to his heavenly home Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Davie Nursing & Rehab, after a long period of declining health.
He was born July 4, 1938, in Iredell County, son of the late Lemuel L. and Alberta Latham White. Grady graduated from Mocksville High School class of 1956. He served with the U.S. Army National Guard from 1959 to 1969. Grady retired from Pet Dairy in 2004. He then worked part time at Lowes Food. Grady was a people person and made many friends during his career. After full retirement, he enjoyed gardening, and visiting family and friends. Grady will be missed by all who knew him; especially the children who knew him as the "milkman" at the Dixie Classic Fair.
Left behind to cherish his memories are his wife, Ann Phelps White; son, Grady Kimber White of FL; daughter, Dawn White of Canada; brother, John Frank White; sisters, Betty Sue Smith, and Jane W. Carter (Jack); stepdaughters, Helen Waller (James), and Lyndale Gilley (Lee); grandchildren, Michelle Pittman and Danielle White; stepgrandchildren, Heather Meacham (Chris), Tiffany Gilley, Dylan Waller, Jeremy Gilley, and Samuel Burnette; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Grady was preceded in death by a sister, Edith W. Keaton; brothers, Leon White and Carl White; stepchildren, Marie Marrs and Ray Birke; nephews, Samuel L. White Jr. and Jonathan White.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, August 20, at Lambert Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Joshua L. Gupton officiating. The family invites friends to visit with them from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m., at the funeral home prior to the service. Interment will follow at Ijames Baptist Church Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted at the graveside.
