Rilla Mae Gaines Cobb, was born on May 1, 1913 in Thomasville, GA, daughter of the late Frank and Josephine Walker Gaines. She and her family moved to North Carolina where she married Johnny Cobb. This union had one daughter. She was of the Baptist faith, and was a farm worker. Rilla loved to cook and work in her vegetable and flower gardens. Her husband, Johnny Cobb, preceded her in death on June 6, 1997. On Monday, March 14, 2011 she died at Autumn Care Nursing Home in Mocksville following several years of declining health. She was ninety-seven years old. Lovingly she is survived by one daughter, Melvia Frances Martinez of the home; one son, Roberto Suarez of Mocksville; one granddaughter, Betty Torres; six nieces and five nephews.
