Obituary

Richard Curtis "Dick" Welborn, 80, of Lewisville, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at Davie Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Mocksville.

He was born November 1, 1945, in Forsyth County, to the late Bishop Mack and Wanda Hazel Weatherman Welborn.

Dick proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and also attended Western Carolina University. After retiring from many years of self-employment, he continued to work until the age of 80 serving his community with the Forsyth County Parks and Recreation Department, specifically at Joanie Moser Park in Lewisville. He took great pride in his work and enjoyed the opportunity to connect with the many people who visited the park. Dick was known for his quiet nature and his willingness to always lend a helping hand to those around him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia Terrell Welborn; and a brother, Barry Welborne.

He is survived by his children, Gerald Welborn (Renna), Breanna Shutt (Jon), Katherine Franklin (Timothy), and Cheston Welborn (Sara); his brother, Reich Welborn (Martha); and his cherished grandchildren, Hunter Shutt, Owen Franklin, Renna Margaret Welborn, Mack Shutt, Parker Franklin, Kate Welborn, Harper Welborn, and Nora Franklin. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Joanne Welborne, along with several nieces and nephews.

While our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing he is healed and in Heaven, reunited with his beloved wife.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Davie Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for the care, compassion, and love they showed Dick during his time there.

A celebration of Dick's life will be held at a later date.
