Mocksville Raymond L. Fisher, affectionately called 'Paw-Paw,' was born in Salisbury on March 7, 1954 to Raymond Ralph and Willie Mae Fisher. Raymond attended Price High School in Salisbury, NC. He was employed at Cannon Mills until his illness would no longer allow him to work. During one of his many hospitalizations, Raymond met and later married, the love of his life, Gwendolyn. They remained together over thirty years. Raymond enjoyed watching numerous TV shows, playing video and computer games, and playing solitaire. He also enjoyed wrestling, the Carolina Tarheels, and the Dallas Cowboys. Raymond formed a lifelong friendship with is physician, Dr. Myron Goodman, who cared for Raymond his entire life. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Rosa Mae Fisher; one brother, Roy Lee Fisher. He departed this life on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012 in his home at the age of 57. Raymond is survived by his wife, Gwendolyn Fisher of the home; two daughters, Jamella B. Martin of Salisbury, and Tonya Rogers of Mocksville; a nephew that he was reared in the home with, Melvin (Geraldine) Fisher of Salisbury; five grandchildren including a grandson reared in the home, Brandon A. Ford, Sr., Ebony (Franklin) Sifford, Eric L. Fair, Sr., Sherell Simpson, and Quaddarrius Ford; seven great-grandchildren, Zary'll, Nariyah, Brandon Jr., Brailyn, Ahmad, Eric Jr., and Zevaeh. He also leaves to cherish his memory a special friend, Milton Pruitt; his sister-in-law, Jean Taylor, his favorite CNA, Aashley Dalton; and a host of other relatives and friends. 'Paw-Paw' will be missed by many. Funeral service was held Sunday, Jan. 15 at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Graham Funeral Home. Dr. Ivey L. Cowan officiated and burial followed in Rose Cemetery.
