Polly Russell Gorham, 69, died Dec. 30 in Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. She was a native of New Bedford, Massachusetts, and had lived in Mocksville for the past eight years. While in Massachusetts she was an office manager for Abba Fish Corporation. Music was the love of her life, and she sang with the Sweet Adelines, and the Connection. She was also a soloist for First Parish Church, New Bedford Unitarian Church, and was a member of New Bedford Choral Society and Sippiean Choral Society. She is survived by two sisters, Priscilla (Dean) Corriea, and Jo-Ann (Stephen) Cookson, both of Mocksville; one niece, Lisa Girolimetti and one nephew, Marc Girolimetti, both of Concord, Massachusetts; two grand nieces, Sofia and Ava Girolimetti and two grand nephews, Johnny and Henry Phillips; many friends in Massachusetts and Mocksville. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 5 at 2:00 PM at Salem United Methodist Church in Mocksville. Pastor John Erwin will officiate.
