Penny Luesender Daye Keaton was born June 24, 1973 in Rowan County, daughter of Henry and Alice Gray Cleveland. She attended Rowan County Schools and was a faithful member of Freedom United Church of God, where she was a member of the choir. Penny was a CNA in the medical field for fourteen years. She had an infectious smile that touched everyone she met. She was a fighter who always stayed strong through difficult times. On Monday, December 23, 2014, she died peacefully at her home following a prolonged illness. She was preceded in death by one brother, Henry Cleveland, Jr. Survivors include her mother, Alice V. Cleveland of the home; her father, Henry Cleveland, Sr. of Woodleaf, her husband, Edward P. Keaton of Woodleaf; two daughters, Tionna (Ricky) McCoy of Salisbury and Shalitha (Timothy, Jr.) Bridges of Salisbury; one brother, Billy Cleveland, Sr. of Woodleaf; one grandchild, Nehemiah McCoy; a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
