Mrs. Pecola Eloise Holman, daughter of the late Lodokas and Viola Cannady, born on May 17, 1931 in Mocksville, North Carolina, was called home to be with her Lord on July 21, 2012 following an extended illness. Pecola attended the public schools of Davie County. She was employed by YVEDDI as a substitute teacher at the headstart program. She was also employed by the Davie County School System as a lunchroom monitor. As a member of St. John AME Zion Church for several years, she was the Sr. Choir President. She served as a member of the missionary department and was a lay council member. She was also an active member of The Le Jour des Femmes Club. She had a remarkable memory for family history and community events. Her hobbies were maintaining those nails, word puzzles, TV game shows, singing in local choirs, and taking care of kittens. She was married to the late Rev. T.S. Holman. From this union, one son was born, (Chris) Azeem Wahid-Holman (Karla). Additional survivors include two granddaughters, Kourtney and Joy; two grandsons, Kent and Keith; two great-grandchildren, DeAsia and Samauri; one sister, Alice C. Gaither; several nieces and nephews. Our hearts ache for her smile and that contagious laughter but we are relieved that she is now without pain.
