Mr. Oscar Blackwell, 71, died at Hospice & Palliative Care Center in Winston Salem, NC on Tuesday May 31, 2011 after years of fighting a courageous battle. Born January, 19, 1940, to Lynn & Mary Bet Lyons Blackwell in Davie County, he resided in Cooleemee, NC. He was an entrepreneur with several business ventures, such as Blackwell Trucking. Oscar was a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church in Farmington. He was preceded in death by one brother, Phillip Blackwell and one sister, Magalene Frost. Survivors include His wife, Linda and three great grand-children, Joshua, Destiny & Caleb, of the home; eight children: Frances(Nathan) Tyson of Mocksville, Linda Young of Starkville, MS, Carolyn(Juan) Mussen of Mocksville, Eunice(Richard) Campbell of Winston Salem, Oscar Young of Mocksville, Tamla Long of Yadkinville, Alvis Hardin of Statesville, & Jerry Ijames of High Point; 18 grand; 16 great-grand children; one Godson, Justin Downs; three sisters: Ruby Frost of Winston Salem, Norma Blackwell of Winston Salem & Della Clement of Advance; three brothers, Jake Blackwell of Advance, Clay Blackwell of Advance, and David(Libby) Blackwell of Cleveland, NC.
