Obituary

Octavia Wilson Clement, known as 'Tippy,' was born in Davie County on September 18, 1936, daughter of the late Andrew and Dora T. Wilson. She attended Poplar Spring and Davie County Training Schools. She worked at the Senior Service Center in Mocksville. She was also a lifelong member of Piney Grove AME Zion Church, where she served as president of the Stewardess Board, Usher Board, Senior Choir Member and Missionary Department. Her hobbies included sewing, making sweet potato pie, and sweet potato cobbler for her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Dora Wilson, her husband, Odell Clement, one son, James Adam Clement, seven brothers, and three sisters. She departed this life on July 21, 2012 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She is survived by two sons, Duncan Clement of Cooleemee, and Charles (Cheri) Clement Mocksville; three daughters, Portia Wilson of the home, Cathy Scott of Mocksville, and Pamela (Dan) Brinkley of Winston-Salem; one sister, Ceola Wilson of Mocksville; her god-mother, Ruby Houpe; play brother, Luke Nichols; special friends, Otelia Turner, Jack Gaither; a special co-worker, Nancy Luckey; 11 grandchildren including four that she raised, Tracy Wilson, Derrick Wilson, William 'Spanky' Wilson, and Lester Scott; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one step-grandson, Tyrest Neely; other relatives and friends.
