DOUB ADVANCE – Nancy Marie Shortt Doub, 82, passed away peacefully Monday, June 20, 2022, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. She was born March 1, 1940, in Forsyth County, to the late Gaston Marvin and Sadie Marie Frye Shortt. Nancy graduated from Griffith High School and retired from AT & T. Her hobbies included "old" NASCAR, embroidery, flower arranging, and spending time with family. She also loved listening to preaching on tv. Nancy will be remembered for her bold faith and love for her Savior, Jesus Christ. One of her most favorite things to do was to witness and tell other about Jesus Christ and the amazing love He has to offer. We can only imagine she is currently strolling with her son, grandson, and other loved ones on heaven's streets of gold, rejoicing and shouting praises to her Savior. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers; her son, Toby Lee Doub; and a grandson, Jerry Thomas Barnes, Jr. Survivors include daughters, Melinda Barnes and Susan Williams (Frankie), all of Advance; grandchildren, Stephen Timothy Barnes (Tracy), Toby Lee Williams (Dallas), and Austin Thomas Williams (Liz); and six great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Friday, June 24, at Lambert Funeral Chapel, with Mr. David Carter officiating. The service will be available to view on the funeral home website. Interment will follow in Bailey's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family invites friends to come by the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, June 23, to pay their respects.
