Mrs. Mona Ruth Fleming Swicegood, 82, of Mocksville, died Sunday, April 2, 2023, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice House in Winston-Salem.

She was born May 25, 1940, in Davie County, to the late Thomas Mitchel and Lillie Juanita Campbell Fleming. Mrs. Swicegood was a member of Turrentine Baptist Church. She was a strong Christian woman who loved the Lord. Mrs. Swicegood was retired from Davie County Schools. She cherished her 67-year marriage to her husband, and adored her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Michaela Draughn.

Survivors include her husband, Joe Harlan Swicegood; daughters, Regina Swicegood Allen and Sharon Swicegood Bryant; special son, Dwayne Swisher (Cindy), all of Mocksville; brother, Aubrey Fleming (Norma) of Alabama; grandchildren, Jesse Draughn (Autumn), Kaleigh Allen, and Brandi Swisher; a great-granddaughter, Billie Michaela Draughn; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 5, at Turrentine Baptist Church with Rev. Fred Carlton officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
