Obituary

On Monday, April 8, 1940, a new baby girl was born to Glenn Thomas & Mattie Neely Wilson. They named her Mildred Delores Wilson. Mildred departed this life on Saturday, May 28, 2011, at Rowan Regional Medical Center, after a brief illness. She was a long-time resident of Mocksville, NC, and a faithful member of Redland Church of Christ in Advance, NC. 'Milllie', as she was called, grew up surrounded by love from her parents, grand-parents, and lots of aunts and uncles. She always liked to sing, but most of all she loved to swing dance! In later years, fishing with family and friends, and playing Phase 10 became her favorite pastimes. Millie began her education at Harts School; a little one-room building, heated by an old potbelly stove. She also attend R.A. Clement School in Cleveland, NC. At a young age, Mildred married Walter Jackson Bares. She became an accomplished upholsterer, and worked along with her husband and sons for many years in their upholstery business. Some years later Mildred sought employment outside of the family business, and eventually retired from Vulcan Materials out of Yadkinville, N C. Mildred Wilson Bares leaves to cherish the memory of her kind and loving spirit: 1 daughter: Frances Cornwell; 5 sons: Walter Bares, Robin Bares, David Bares, Michael (Pamela) Bares, and Jimmy Bares; 2 brothers: Richard Wilson, and James (Deborah) Wilson; 5 sisters: Mary Lassiter, Glennie Latten, Patricia Copeland, Claudine (Larry) Clark, and Vonnie (Edward) Cunningham; 4 grandsons: Tyrone, Tommy, Kevin, and Matthew; 2 granddaughters: Ashley and Nija; 7 great-grandchildren; 1 uncle; 6 nephews; 13 nieces; and a host of cousins, friends, and other loved ones.
