Michael Arnelle Brown, Sr., was born in Davie County on March 4, 1955, son of Jesse and Geraldine Brown. Being brought up in the church, he joined Cedar Grove Baptist Church at an early age. He attended Davie County Schools, and upon graduating, he gained employment with R.J. Reynolds, where he worked for 35 years until his retirement. After retirement, Michael's passion for golfing and fishing grew immensely. He spent countless hours on 'the green' at Winston-Lake with his friends and many cool evenings on the river banks reeling in fish. He will forever be known for his fish tales. His exciting storey would begin with, 'Let me tell you what happened,' and end with, '...but the big one got away.' He was preceded in death by one sister, Jessica Darlene Brown. On Monday afternoon, February 13, 2012, our loving family member and friend closed his eyes to earth and opened his soul to a new home. Michael, affectionately known as 'Big Mike,' 'Uncle Mike,' and 'Paw Paw,' is lovingly survived by his parents, Jesse and Geraldine Brown of Mocksville; three children, Michael (Teri) Brown, Jr., of Greensboro, NC, NeKeith Brown of Dallas, TX, and Michaela Brown of Winston-Salem, NC; three brothers, Lawrence (Linda) Clayton of Bloomfield, NJ, Christopher (Jerri) Brown, and Derrick (Christy) Brown both of Mocksville; two sisters, Cynthia (Herman) West of Mocksville, and Michelle (Jock) Jones of Richmond, VA; one grandson, Aaron Brown; five nephews, four nieces, a host of other relatives and a devoted friend, Ann Nickerson.
