Mrs. Mary Ruth Frye Smith, 79, of Mocksville, died Sunday, April 16, 2023, at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.

Ruth was born February 14, 1944, in Davie County, to the late Lester Eugene and Naomi Kathryn West Frye.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, Annie Call, Robert Frye, and Nellie Couch.

Survivors include her husband, Joe Henry Smith; son, Jody Smith (Beverly) of Madison; grandson, Christopher Smith; stepgrandchildren, Caleb and Bailey Cox; siblings, Betty Trivette, Linda Gaither, Sue Caudle (Bobby), Johnny Frye (Dee), Bonnie Lambert (Sam), Gene Frye (Melinda), and Roger Dale Frye; sister-in-law, Karen Frye; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 20, at Calvary Baptist Church, with Pastor Michael McDaniel and Pastor Nolan Johnson officiating. The service will be available to view on the funeral home website. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
