Mary Avon Redmond was born in Iredell County on August 22, 1934, daughter of the late Clarence and Lessie Chrissy Lee Click Chambers. She was educated in Iredell County Schools, and was a member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church. For many years, she worked at Yadkin Cleaners in Yadkinville. Avon loved to cook and make homemade chow chow. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Michael Redmond; two sons, Dennis Redmond and Bruce Redmond; one daughter, Alice Chambers; and six siblings. At age 83, she died on Oct. 15, 2017, in Yadkin Nursing Center in Yadkinville. She is survived by two daughters, Diedra Redmond and Regina (Jimmy) Williams; two sons, Richard Chambers and Raunchy Redmond; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; special nieces, Geneva Tarter, Barbara Eccles, and Louise Boone; special nephews, Charles Chambers, Kevitte Weaver, Todd Weaver, and Shelby Misher; Beth Faircloth and Grant Wooten, whom she raised; other relatives and friends.
