Obituary

Mrs. Mary B. Dalton Ramseur, daughter of the late Clarence and Estie Mae Holmes Dalton, was born in Iredell County May 23, 1933. She received her education in Iredell County Schools and joined Pleasant Hill Baptist Church at an early age, where she maintained membership for a number of years. She later joined Chestnut Grove Baptist Church, where she served as Senior Choir President, Nurses Aide member, and Deaconess Board. She was always willing to do whatever she could to help her fellow man in the church and the community as long as she was able. At the time of her death, she was a member of New Jerusalem Apostolic Church in Mocksville. For a number of years she served as president of the North Iredell Homemakers Club, 4-H leader, Girlscout leader, President of the Iredell Homemaker Council for two years, NAACP member, assistant matron of Darcus Chapter #287 Order of the Eastern Star, and Golden Circle member. She was first married to the late Walter Lynn Murdock who preceded her in death in 1961. She later married Everette Melvin Ramseur, who preceded her in death in October 2011. She was a faithful wife, and loving mother to seven children. Two of her children, Larry and Donald Dalton, preceded her in death. Two siblings, Clarence Dalton, Jr., and Shirley Smyre also preceded her in death. To know her was to love her. She will be greatly missed by family and friends in the home, church, and community. On Monday, December 30, 2013, she died in Bryan Center in Statesville, following a short illness. She is survived by two sons, Roland Murdock of Missouri and Christopher Lamont Ramseur of Salisbury; three daughters, Deborah (Roger) Dalton-Holmes of Salisbury, Eunice (Lonnie) Evans of Salisbury, and Lesia Parks of Harmony; four brothers, Gordon (Jean) Dalton, William (Beatrice) Dalton, George (Tess) Dalton, and Opah Dalton; three sisters, Maxine Colden, Bobby Jean (Jacob) Ogarro, and Yvonne Waddell; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; other relatives and friends.
