Mrs. Mary Sue Hayes Kent, 85, of Hamptonville, died Sunday, July 23, 2023, at Mountain Valley Hospice & Care Center in Yadkinville.

She was born July 12, 1938, in Forsyth County. Mrs. Kent was a member of The Way of Life Full Gospel Tabernacle. She enjoyed going to Debbie's Snack Bar and the many friends that she had there. Mrs. Kent loved bluegrass style gospel music.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Virgie Lee Hayes; her husbands, R. L. Brewbaker and John E. Kent; and a brother, Larry Blackburn.

Survivors include her children, Jeff Brewbaker of Du Bois, IL, Sue Royall (Steve) of Huntsville, and Martha Wooten (Gregg) of Mocksville; three other children that held a special place in her heart; grandchildren, Randi, Evan, Samantha, Savannah, and Genny; and great-grandchildren, Jaydon, Gannon, Remi, Rylie, Blakley, and Ansley.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 25, at Liberty United Methodist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Jimmy Mahan officiating. The family invites friends to visit with them at the graveside 30 minutes prior to the service.
