Mary Rodwell Holman, age 84, passed peacefully on Saturday September 30th, 2017, at Novant Health Center in Salisbury, NC, following an extended illness. She was born January 20th, 1933, in Davie County, to the late Joshua Cornelius and Ruby Gaither Holman. Mary attended Davie County schools and later moved to Long Island New York, Queens County. She did domestic work, and furthered her education and became a switchboard operator and copier at Bloomberg Mills, Inc., where she worked until her health failed. She returned to North Carolina earlier this year. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by one son, Keith Holman; one brother; and six sisters. She is survived by one daughter, Ramona Karen Holman, of New York City; two grandchildren, Phillip Holman and Equiano Holman; three great-grandchildren, DiaMonte Scoggins, McKayla Holman, and Daniel Holman; two devoted sisters, Edmonia Hollis of Mocksville and Nellie Ramsue of Salisbury; other nieces nephews, and cousins, including special friends, Ruth Dark and Frances W.
