Mark Raymond
Schmitz
Jan 10, 1963 — Dec 26, 2022
Mr. Mark Raymond Schmitz, 59, of Mocksville, died unexpectedly Monday, December 26, 2022, surrounded by loved ones at his home.
He was born January 10, 1963, in Schenectady County, NY to the late Raymond Joseph and Marion Ruth Gathen Schmitz. Mark had worked for Candor Home Services as a foreman, and he and his wife owned and operated Ink It Promotional Products. He had previously worked at Quad Graphics in Saratoga Springs, NY, Blue Star Builders, and Saratoga Harness Track. Mark was a member of Davie County Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed grilling barbeque, smoking meats, traveling in the motor home, going to the beach, and watching NASCAR – whether on tv or in the stands. Mark loved watching football, and would always call the fouls before the tv commentators would announce them. He enjoyed coaching high school and college football with his son Brad, nephew Bubs, great-nephew Brendon, their friend Dennis and other kids. Mark also loved to share his vast knowledge of construction with others and had that not so common "common sense." He especially enjoyed having a "cold one."
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers-in-law, Wayne Evans, Michael Hart, Clay Cedarholm, and Duane Evans.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Schmitz; children, Brandi Holub, Brad Holub (Amy); grandchildren, Olivia and Isabelle Kvinlaug, Alexandra Cunningham and Jaxson Holub; sisters, Sharon Griffin (Gary), and Karen Hart; sisters-in-law, Darlene Cedarholm, Patricia Evans Nedo (Vladmir), Kelly Evans Revette, and Linda Evans; niece, Tonya O'Neill (Steve) who was like a daughter, Wayne "Bubs" Evans, Jr. (Megan) who was like a son, and other nieces and nephews, Leslie Sanders (Jay), Jason Andriano, Billy Harwood, Jolene Hart, Matthew Evans, Michael Evans (Bianca), Lisa Scranton, James Scranton (Cindy), April Evans (Mike), Chad Evans, Nathan Bertrand, Colleen Bertrand, Amy Evans, Suzy Evans, Duane Evans, Jr. (Alexis), Christopher Wood (Lisa), Stephanie Svenson (Daniel), Michael Evans (Tamara), and Lexi Revette; great-nephew whom he raised, Brendon Evans (Scherri), and lots and lots of other great-nieces and great-nephews; longtime friends, Brian and Chris Walker, Tim Bates, and Cyndi Bates; and his daily phone buddies, Jamie Montague, and Kevin "Sr." Satornino.
