Marcle Joett Thomas Naylor, 88, of Mocksville, died Monday, September 8, 2025, at her home.
She was born June 16, 1937, in Chatham County, to the late Cyrus Watson and Lucy Richardson Thomas. Marcle held various positions throughout her career, including roles at Bahnson Manufacturing, First Baptist Church, and J.P. Milling Company. She also worked at Foster's Jewelers and was a Beauty Control sales representative. She had a vibrant social spirit and loved team activities, especially playing on the Ms. Fits tennis team and ballroom dancing. Marcle found joy in spending time at the beach and took great pleasure in embroidering clothes and Christmas ornaments for her children. She especially loved reading and listening to devotionals. A devoted member of First Baptist Church in Mocksville, Marcle served as a GA leader and also volunteered as a counselor at Ridgecrest.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Jack Doyle Naylor; and a brother, Larry Thomas.
Survivors include her children, Melanie Hendrix (Rick), Andy Naylor (Christine), and James Watson Naylor (Lynn); grandchildren, Chris Hendrix, Kevin Hendrix, Elise Cave, Luke Naylor, Adam Naylor, Jesse Naylor, and Isabelle Naylor; and great-grandchildren, Kailee Hendrix, Zoe Hendrix, Gavin Hendrix, Nathan Cave, Harrison Hendrix, Harper Lucy Hendrix, Clara Hendrix, Ezra Hendrix, Jackson Cave, and Stella Naylor.
A funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m., Sunday, September 14, at First Baptist Church, with Rev. John Johnson officiating. The family invites friends to visit with them at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Eatons Baptist Church Cemetery.
