Manuel Villareal Ramon was born in Acuna, Coahuila, on January 5, 1935, son of the late Manuel V. and Maria DeJesus Ramon. He was educated in Mexico, and at an early age became a member of the Church of God, 7th Day, and remained a member throughout his life. On March 13, 1956, he was united in marriage to Socorro Covarrubias. This union was blessed with one daughter. The family moved to the United States in 1961, and came to North Carolina in 1985. Manuel enjoyed farming and had worked at Junker Feed Mill, Crown Wood Products, and the Davie County School System, from which he retired. Family was very important, and his grandchildren, especially the great-granddaughters, gave him great joy and happiness. On Saturday, October 7, 2017, surrounded by his family, he died at his home, following a lengthy illness. Lovingly, he is survived by his devoted wife of sixty-one years, Socorro C. Ramon of the home; one daughter, Rachel (Steve) Ijames of Mocksville; two grandsons, Paul (Emily) Ijames of Aurora, CO, and Reuben (Meagan) Ijames of Mocksville; three granddaughters, Lillie Ijames, Olive Ijames, and Hailey Ijames; a niece whom they raised, Socorro, and her three children; other relatives and friends.
