Lonnie Ray Campbell, Sr., 78, of Cooleemee, passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, Winston-Salem.
He was born August 16, 1946, in Davie County, to the late William Preston and Hattie Mae Goodwin Campbell. Lonnie was owner/operator of his own welding company, and thoroughly enjoyed it. He was of the Baptist faith, and was a member of the Cooleemee Civitan Club. Lonnie loved tractors, especially John Deere, and his first blue Ford! He especially loved spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of almost 47 years, Maryann Phillips Campbell; a son, John Darrell Campbell, Sr; great-granddaughter, Ali Reavis; a stepdaughter, Donna Jean Willoughby; a sister, Mary Lou Campbell Foster; and brothers-in-law, Bow Foster and Tommy Blackwelder.
Survivors include a son, Lonnie Ray "Scoot" Campbell Jr. (Lisa); a grandson, whom he and his wife raised from infancy, John Darrell "J.D." Campbell (Missy); special grandchildren, Courtney Hope Campbell Reavis (James), and Christopher Ryan Campbell (Shelton); other granddaughter, Tiffany Campbell Douglas; great-grandchildren, Ava and Kai Reavis, and Darrelynn and Sophia Campbell; a stepson-in-law, Larry Willoughby; a sister, Brenda Blackwelder; brothers, Harold Campbell (Sharrie), Mike Campbell (Ellen), and Jerry Campbell; many nieces, nephews, stepgrandchildren, and stepgreat-grandchildren; special friends, Ervin Link and Mark Shore; and companion of the last eight years, Glenda Barnhardt.
A funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m., Sunday, June 29, at Lambert Funeral Chapel, Mocksville, with Mr. Randy Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Legion Memorial Park. The family invites friends to visit with them from 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday, June 28, at Lambert Funeral Home, Mocksville.
