Lizzie Mae Oakley was born in Woodleaf NC on August 12, 1930, daughter of the late Lola Williams-Mayfield and the late Omer Mayfield. She left Woodleaf NC not long after graduating from R.A. Clement High School and moved to Chicago Illinois. She later moved back to Woodleaf, NC with her family. She was united in marriage to the late James Oakley. Together they had two children. She joined Erwin Temple CME Church at an early age and re-joined in 2006. She loved to care for others and she always had a smile on her face. She truly loved the Lord. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lola Williams-Mayfield, her father, Omer Mayfield, her sons, Jimmy Oakley; and Ernie Ray Oakley; her brothers, Willie Mayfield and Larry Mayfield; her sister Mildred Mayfield-Clement, and her adopted sisters Pecolia Gray, Jessie Rankin, and Evonne Lazenbury. On July 26, 2011 she died peacefully at Autumn Care Nursing Home in Mocksville NC. Survivors include one granddaughter, Chinna (Frankey) Prude-Anderson of Memphis TN; one grandson, Ernie Ray Prude of Memphis TN; two daughters-in-law, Janice Oakley of Statesville NC and Linda Oakley of Long Beach, CA; adopted sisters, Lela Rudisell, Hattie Gray, Amy Phifer, L.D. Imes, and Desiree Imes; one step son, Harold (Neil) Hairston of Orlando, FL; two step-daughters, Louise (Ricky) Hudson of Salisbury, and Sheila McCassill of SC; two nieces, Etta Denise (Kenneth) Robinson of North Chicago IL, and Elizabeth Ann (John) Griffin of Winston-Salem; one nephew, Bryan Clement of Fort Washington, MA; two brothers-in-law, Eugene Chunn of Salisbury, and Robert (Janet) Chunn of Gary, Indiana; one goddaughter, Tanunika Imes of Woodleaf; four great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
