Lillie Mae Johnson was born February 2, 1940, to the late Azillee Johnson Barker. She was raised by Azillee and Garfield Barker. She graduated from Davie County Training School in 1958. Lillie was a seamstress and a cook for many years before retiring, then she cared for a number of children in the Davie County area. She loved to cook, play bingo and just enjoy life. Lillie was an active member of Shiloh Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Chancel Choir, President of the Willing Workers and Chairperson of the Kitchen Committee. She also was an active member in the NAACP where she served as Branch Secretary and was named Mother of the Year in 1999. Additional memberships include the Le Jour Des Femmes Club and the Davie County Training School Reunion Committee. On Thursday, July 12, 2012, Lillie was called home to be with the Lord. In addition to her parents, Lillie was preceded in death by one sister, Emma Lee Frost; three brothers, Paul Johnson, Benjamin Johnson and Ben J Johnson. Lillie Leaves to cherish her memories three sons, Bradford (Julia) Johnson, Curtis Johnson, and Stacey Johnson; three daughters, Pamela Johnson of Mocksville, Paulette Rhynehardt and Patrenia Johnson of Winston-Salem, special acknowledgement to Timothy Rhynehardt; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
