Joshua Ryan Tenery, 48, of Mocksville,  died Friday, January 30, 2026, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem.

He was born April 3, 1977, in Surry County, to Sammy Ryan and Debbie Lynn Couch Tenery. Joshua began playing the drums at a young age and carried a deep love for music throughout his life, whether he was playing the drums, strumming the guitar, or singing from the heart. He enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys and cheering them on. Joshua loved Davie County and never met a stranger, greeting everyone with warmth and kindness. He also had a passion for cooking and travel. Above all else, his greatest love was his family.

He was preceded in death by paternal grandfather, Rev. Robert Tenery; and maternal grandparents, Wilburn and Grace Couch

Survivors include his parents; children, Lucas Ryan Tenery and Savannah Kathleen Tenery; a sister, Carrie Ratledge (Brad); nephews, Jacob, and Alex Ratledge; niece, Grace Ratledge; and maternal grandmother, Willo'deane Tenery; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, February 7, at Farmington Baptist Church, with Rev. Phillip Brande, and Rev. Stan Riddle officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., prior to the service.
