Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved dad, Joseph "Joe" P. Wieter Sr., of Mocksville, who left us on Wednesday, December 25, 2025.

He was born in Dickson City, PA on June 19,1924., to the late Joseph and Rosalie Podchajski Wietrzykowski. Joe was a devoted husband and father. He was also a World War II veteran who proudly served in the U.S. Army's 82nd Airborne Division as a paratrooper. Joe loved his country and felt it was an honor to serve.

He loved to bowl. Joe was a member of two senior bowling leagues, celebrating his 101st birthday at the bowling alley. He also loved his hobby of scroll saw work and always went for the most intricate patterns. This won him first place and best of show at the Center Fair several years ago. In addition, in his earlier days, he was an avid fisherman and hunter.

He worked for Fafnir Bearing Company, later to become Textron, for 45 years, progressing within the company from a machine worker to an Industrial Engineer.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Julia Agritelley Wieter; his brothers, Leonard Wietrzykowski and Francis Wietrzykowski; and his sister, Pearl Wietrzykowski Chasse.

He is survived by his daughters, Lita Wieter and Lynne Wieter Watson (Bruce); his son, Joseph P. Wieter, Jr. (Faith); several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; numerous friends, loved ones; and his devoted dogs, Ty and Lucy, who will miss him dearly.

A service to honor and celebrate Joseph's life will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, January 15, at Lambert Funeral Chapel, military honors. The family invites friends to visit with them from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, January 15, at the funeral home. Private inurnment will be in Salisbury National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made, in Joe's memory to Pets for Vets, Inc., P. O. Box 10860, Wilmington, NC 28404.

Joe's legacy of love, compassion, and strength will continue to inspire all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
