Joseph Earnest Covington, Jr., 91, of Winston-Salem, died Friday, August 19, 2022, at his home. He was born July 2, 1931, in Guilford County, to the late Joseph Earnest Covington, Sr. and Harriet L. Martin Covington. Mr. Covington was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church in Walkertown. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister; and three brothers. Survivors include his wife, Joan Paisly Bibb Covington; children, Joseph "Jody" E. Covington, III (Stephanie) and Cindy Lou Ann Pegram; stepsons, Ernie Lilly (Kathy) and Phillip Lilly (Karen); several grandchildren; and a few great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 24, at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory, Kernersville with Rev. Frank Shumate officiating.
