Obituary

Mocksville John Lewis Mayfield, age 76, was born in Rowan County, to the late Johnnie Mack and Lizzie Martin Mayfield. He attended R.A. Clement High School in Cleveland, and was a lumberman. He worked at Erwin Mills as a machine operator. At an early age, he joined Erwin Temple CME Church in Woodleaf. Later in life, he joined Chosen Church of Faith and was a faithful member for thirty two years, where he served as an Elder. He was married to Addie Lucille Hairston for forty nine years. His hobbies were singing, playing ball, fishing, and playing with his grandchildren. Following a period of illness, John died at his residence on February 18, 2017. In addition to his father, John was preceded in death by two brothers, Alvin Mayfield and Frank Mayfield, and two sisters, Doris Gray and Deborah James. He is survived by his devoted wife, Addie Lucille Mayfield; three sons, Corey (Kristy) Mayfield, Raymon G. Mayfield both of Mocksville, and John Lewis (Brandy) Mayfield of Lexington; four daughters, Kimberly Mutz of Salisbury, Lisa Hairston, Tabitha Mayfield and Lakeisha Tenor all of Mocksville; his mother, Lizzie Mayfield; two brothers, Felton (Judy) Mayfield, and Wilton (Kimberly) Mayfield; three sisters, Libby (Milton) Neely, Pastor Ruby Howell, and Alexis Cline; one sister-in-law, Savannah Mayfield; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
