John Samuel Blackwelder, 83, of Mocksville, died Thursday, November 20, 2025, at his home. He was born November 6, 1942, in Davie County, to the late William Harrison Blackwelder, Sr. and Eula Maie Gilmore Blackwelder. Mr. Blackwelder had retired from Crescent Electric, now Energy United. He enjoyed restoring old cars, his favorite a '40 Ford Coupe. Mr. Blackwelder's favorite past-time was hanging out at his brother's place – "Robert's" and Miller's.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Harrison Blackwelder, Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Dianne Odessa Spry Blackwelder; sons, Johnny Blackwelder (Caroline), and Billy Blackwelder (Laurie); a brother, Robert Allen Blackwelder; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and canine companion, Buddy "Bubba."

A graveside service will be conducted at 4 p.m., Sunday, November 23, at Ijames Baptist Church, with Rev. Kessler Ruth officiating. The family invites friends to visit with them from 2:30 – 3:30 p.m., Sunday, November 23, at Lambert Funeral Home.
