Joesceaphus Lyons, Jr., known as Jimmy Lee, was born May 7, 1931, in Davie County, son of the late Joesceaphus Lyons, Sr., and Nellie Brock Lyons. He attended Davie County Schools and at an early age he joined Cedar Creek Baptist Church. He loved to cook and worked as a chef in restaurants in New York the majority of his life. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Wesley Albert Lyons. On June 10, he died at Oak Forest Nursing Home in Winston-Salem. Survivors include his wife, Marie Handy Lyons of Mocksville; two sons, Reginald Wayne Lyons and Yosef Handy both of Mocksville; three step sons, Isaac Williams and Jamel Handy both of Mocksville, and Darnell Handy of Brooklyn, New York; one step daughter, Patricia Williams of Yadkinville; one grandchild, Tristian Hood; a devoted cousin, Ella Mae White; other relatives and friends.
