Mr. Joe Harlan Swicegood, 86, of Mocksville, died Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.

He was born July 21, 1937, in Rowan County, to the late Van Allen and Annie Gullet Swicegood. Mr. Swicegood was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of Turrentine Baptist Church. He was retired from Crescent Electric/Energy United.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Mona Ruth Fleming Swicegood; a granddaughter, Michaela Draughn.

Survivors include daughters, Regina Swicegood Allen and Sharon Swicegood Bryant; special son, Dwayne Swisher (Cindy), all of Mocksville; grandchildren, Jesse Draughn (Autumn), Kaleigh Allen, and Brandi Swisher; a great-granddaughter, Billie Michaela Draughn; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Monday, May 20, at Turrentine Baptist Church with Rev. Fred Carlton officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, with military honors. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
