Jean Jeanette Berry Dalton was born in Jamaica, NY on September 9, 1933, to the late Richard and Muriel B. Berry. She attended New York Public Schools and worked at Jamaica Hospital in Jamaica, NY. On September 30, 1962, she married Gordon Dalton. She later worked as a CNA at Trump Pavillion Nursing Home in Flushing, NY, from which she retired in 1992. After moving to Harmony, NC, she was an active member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church until her health failed. Jean loved to read and complete puzzles. She studied her Bible and did devotions daily. She loved to eat meals that her husband prepared. In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by one daughter, one son, two sisters, and two brothers. On Friday, November 27, 2015, she died in Orangeburg, SC, where she had resided for about three years with her son and daughter-in-law. She is survived by her husband, Gordon M. Dalton of Harmony, NC; three sons, Kevin Berry, Burnell Berry, and Allen (Cheryl) Dalton, all of South Carolina; one step-daughter, Teresa Dalton; two brothers; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
