Mocksville James Gilbert Wilson, Jr., affectionately known as 'Jimmy,' was born in Mocksville on March 1, 1950 to the late James Gilbert Wilson, Sr., and Bertha Pulliam Wilson. He attended Davie County Schools and graduated from Davie High School in 1968. While in high school he met Linda Clement and they married on November 18, 1972. They enjoyed a happy marriage almost 41 years. Due to declining health, Jimmy retired from Ingersoll-Rand after forty years of service as a machinist. He was also a member of the National Guard for six years. Jimmy was well-known in the community as 'Pickett.' He loved drag racing and many of his drag racing friends referred to him as 'JG.' In addition to racing, Jimmy thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, who called him 'Bop Bop,' and they will miss him attending their sports events. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Christopher Wilson, and one sister, Ruth Mayfield. On November 12, 2013, he died at his residence in Mocksville. He is survived by his devoted wife Linda C. Wilson of the home; one son, Cedric Gabriel (Tammy) Wilson; one daughter, Charise Wilson (Curtis) Peebles; nine grandchildren, Cedric Wilson, Chavin Peebles, Kayla VanBuren, Bailey Archambo, Brittney Wilson, Adrian Cranfill, Cierra Peebles, Whisper Wilson, and Alan Pruitt; one sister, Ruby Peterson; his drag racing buddies; many other relatives and friends.
