James “Jim” Woodrow Summers, Jr., 83, of Mocksville, died Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem.
He was born May 14, 1943, in Davie County, to the James Woodrow Summers Sr. and Elsie Mae Hodges Summers. Jim was a devoted man of faith who loved the Lord, his family, hunting, and fishing. He proudly served his country as a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. In June 1965, he married the love of his life and best friend, Anne, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and cherished memories.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two infant sons; and his father and mother-in-law, Jim and Gladys Hinson.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Anne Elizabeth Hoffman Summers; son, Jimmy Summers (Kim); grandsons, Ben Summers (Carli), and Will Summers; brother-in-law, Jimmy Hinson (Alicia); a niece, Ashley Demooney (Clayton); nephew, Clarke Hinson (Kristin); great-nieces, Tatum and Mattie; great-nephews, Brock and Chapman; special friends, Rex and Karen Bowers, Mike and Mechelle Shoffner, and their daughters, Sarah and Abby, and dear friends from his Marine Corps days, Terri and Marydee Graham, and their family.
At James’ request, there will be no services held.
The family requests that no flowers be sent. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to a charity of your choice.
