J. B. Caldwell, 95, of Mocksville, died Thursday, August 27, 2020, at SECU Hospice Care Center of Yadkin in Yadkinville. He was born August 25, 1925, in Milam County, TX to the late George Bartus and Ollie Louise Moro Caldwell. Mr. Caldwell was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Bear Creek Baptist Church. Mr. Caldwell was very creative and had a great knack for woodworking. For 14 years, he and his wife had volunteered with Meals on Wheels. He enjoyed helping his daughter tend to the horses, making sure their feed and hay were correct. Mr. Caldwell was a member of the V.F.W. and the Masonic Lodge. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Mary Lou Bailey Caldwell; two sisters; and three brothers. Survivors include daughters, Donna Elaine Moore (David) of Mocksville, and Lauren Cindy Caldwell, of Gainesville, Fla.; sister, Erma Cox of Baytown, TX; grandchildren, Wendy Moore and David Moore (Carol); and great-grandsons, Ethan and Jonas Moore. A graveside service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 1, at Bear Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Greg McEwen officiating. Military honors will follow graveside service.
