Mrs. Helen E. Mack Dalton was born in on March 12, 1930, daughter of the late Richard David Mack and Flora Scott Mack. She grew up in Davie County and graduated from Davie County Training School in 1947. Helen did domestic work at various places, including Davie County Hospital. She retired from Davie County Home Health as a Home Health Aide. She was a member of Rose Demall Chapter #531 Order of the Eastern Star, where she was a past Worthy Matron. She was also a member of Mt. Zion Holiness Church in Mocksville. In 1949 she married Charles Nathaniel Dalton. To this union seven children were born. Helen enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles, and cooking. She enjoyed time spent with family, especially her grandchildren. Helen vacationed with family and friends to several exotic locations. Family members who preceded her in death include three sons, Michael, Steven and Gilbert Dalton; one grandson, Jhockton Dalton; one sister, Janie Wilkes Bowman. On Thursday, June 5, 2014 she passed at Forsyth Memorial Hospital in Winston-Salem. The family members who cherish Helen's memory include her devoted husband of sixty-five years, Charles Nathaniel Dalton of the home; three sons, David (Annetta) Dalton of Mocksville, James Weldon (Stephanie) Dalton of Miami, Florida, and Thomas (Gloria Diane) Dalton of Mocksville; one daughter, Debra (Lemuel, Jr.) Watkins of Durham, NC; one daughter-in-law, Edna Dalton of Advance, NC; seventeen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.
