Harvey Craig
Price
Apr 15, 1952 — Apr 17, 2025
Dr. Harvey Craig Price, 73, of Raleigh, passed away peacefully April 17, 2025, at his home.
He was the son of the late Harvey Earl and Eleanor Blow Price. Dr. Price was born and raised in Smithfield. Craig was a 1970 graduate of Smithfield-Selma Senior High School. While at SSS, he received the Aeolian Music Club Award as a solo trumpet player, was selected to be a two-time All-State Band member, an All-State selection in basketball, and a high jumper on the track and field team, and an Eagle Scout. In 2019, he was selected to be the first inductee to the Smithfield-Selma High School Alumni Hall of Fame.
After graduation, Craig completed his undergraduate and medical school studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was a Morehead Scholar and Fellow. He was also a member of the UNC Freshman Basketball Team and a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honorary Society. His postgraduate surgical and otolaryngology training were completed at UNC Hospitals.
In 1983, Craig moved to Raleigh and founded Capitol ENT with practice partner, Dr. Michael Parker. He practiced for over 37 years. Craig was an active member of the medical community for his entire career and served as president of the North Carolina Society of Otolaryngology and in other professional capacities. When not helping patients, Craig loved spending time outdoors at the beach, the mountains, and the family farm. He also enjoyed giving back to the Raleigh community. Craig was a youth sports coach and enthusiastic member of the Y Guides and Princesses with all his children. He served on the boards of the Salvation Army of Raleigh, the Urban Ministries of Raleigh, Frankie Lemmon Foundation and the Open Door Clinic. He and his wife, Pamela, were named Outstanding Volunteers of 1997 for Development of the Urban Ministries.
Craig was a devoted husband to Pamela Updegraff Price, and they recently celebrated their 33rd anniversary. He was brother to Dr. Russ Price, and wife Anne Price of Atlanta, GA and Greenville. He was also an incredible father of four: son David Craig Price and his wife Leah Price, of Greenville; son John Harvey Price of Weaverville; son Thomas Garrett Price of Wilmington; and daughter Courtney Marie Price of Raleigh. He was also survived by his grandsons Parker 4, Joseph 4, and Walker 3, as well as his nieces and nephews, including Alexander Boyd Price and Mary Macon Spotswood Lissner.
The family requests that memorial contributions in his honor be made to Bullies 2 the Rescue at www.bullies2therescue.com, as the family has always loved their bulldogs.
