Frankie Holmes Crawford, age 91, was born in Iredell County, July 20, 1920, daughter of the late French and Mamie Holmes. She attended Iredell County Schools, and lived most of her life in Washington, DC, where she worked for the Federal Government and did domestic work until she retired. She returned to Iredell County in 1985. Frankie loved to cook, garden, and do jigsaw puzzles and crossword puzzles. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Crawford; two sisters, Louise H. Dalton and Nanearl H. Roberson; two brothers, Raywood Holmes and Ned Holmes. On September 15 she died in Gordon Hospice Home following a short illness. She is survived by two sisters, Jackie (Moses) Suber of Washington, DC and Jewel H. Grinton of Boonville; two brothers, George (Judy) Holmes of Harmony and Samuel Holmes of Dudley, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, and a special Godson, Robby Altman; other relatives and friends.
